Bharatiya Janta Party Councillor from Kishan Kunj ward and leader of the House in East Delhi Municipal Corporation, BB Tyagi was on Saturday accused by the Congress leaders for disrupting the inauguration of a sewer line in lakshmi Nagar market.
The function was being attended by Delhi Health Minister AK Walia and Member of Parliament from East Delhi constituency Sandeep Dikshit. It is alleged that BB Tyagi barged into the function around 4 pm with his supporters and started throwing chairs and other items.
Police later registered a criminal case at Shakarpur police station under sections 147/148/149/308/120-B for rioting, destroying public property, causing grievous injury and criminal conspiracy but no arrest has been made as the investigations in the case are still going on.
However, the leader of the House in East Delhi Municipal Corporation alleged that the function was deliberative attempt to create nuisance in the area and it was Congress workers who first attacked BJP workers.
“They were making unnecessary noises when a few nearby residents requested them to keep their volume low. They suddenly started beating them. We will also be lodging formal police complaint against culprits,” he said.
