Trip 2

SANGEETA YADAV

Season 2 of a web-series, The Trip, which was launched last week is adventurous, crazy and fun with Shweta Tripathi, Mallika Dua, Sapna and Amyra Dastur at the helm. Sangeeta Yadav chats them up

Does an all girls trip with your besties not sound like fun? It does. More so, when things are unplanned. Season 2 of The Trip is all this and much more. The web-series takes you on a roller coaster ride. It is about four crazy friends who end up going for a spur of the moment trip to Puducherry.

Taking the story forward from the first season which revolved around the four childhood friends who go on a road trip in Thailand to celebrate a bachelorette party, Season 2 is kicks off one-and-a-half year later. Masaan fame Shweta Tripathi, who is now married in the show, says: “Sudden trips are fun and adventurous. In Season 2 as well, we end up going on a trip from nowhere. My character, Ananya, is now married. She leaves everything to be a homemaker and her career takes a back seat. It gives a different perspective of today’s woman who gives priority to marriage over everything. The characters that I like to do, I like them to be very different from my real self. The way Ananya thinks and does things, it is different from what I am and think in real life. I like taking up such roles because as an artist, you  explore more as you live different characters. I don’t want to live my real life on-screen as well.”

Mallika Dua will continue to play Nazia and Sapna Pabbi as Sanjana, Lisa Haydon will be missing this season. To add more spice to it, Amyra Dastur has joined the girl gang as Ira.

Talking about the experience working with co-stars, Tripathi says: “We had a blast in Season 1 and all of them are adorable. Lisa is not there in Season 2 and we miss her a lot. But Amyra joined in and she is crazy and a lot of fun. With Mallika and Amyra, you can never get bored. Sanjana is the DJ of our trip who carried her speakers everywhere and played the music whenever we needed.”

For Dastur, playing Ira was fun and a great learning experience. “Ira is a quirky independent woman. The trip reflects the great bond of friendship shared between Nazia, Ananya, Sanjana and Ira. Each character goes on a journey of self-discovery and finds a motivation in life during this trip, bringing them closer than ever before,” Dastur tells you.

The trip unfolds many adventures as well that brings a lot of twists and turns. “We are all the time running away from something throughout the trip. I get to drive 1940s Ambassador in the hills and a pickup truck. When you drive a car which has cameras attached to it, we have to be all the more careful to take care of the camera as well as drive safely,” Tripathi tells you.

The girls even went for professional training to shoot for an underwater scene. “It was a breathtaking experience. We were trained to dive underwater. Now we have a certificate to prove it. Where we were shooting for this, the water was freezing. If it was left  up to me, I would have got out in five minutes. But it was work-related. We stayed under water for 45 minutes. When I came out, I was almost frozen. That was the toughest days of shoot for us,” Dastur recounts.
