The unavailability of Wi-Fi services in the 35th India International Trade Fair (IITF) has created hassle for traders and buyers. On Saturday, thousands of people who visited IITF found it difficult to make payment through cards due to lack of network services in the pavilions. Saturday being a holiday, huge crowd turned up at IITF. They had to stand in long queue to make withdrawal at three ATM machines functioning on the premises.

Talking with The Pioneer, a senior official from the Networking Division (ND) said that India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is working on plan to provide Internet services in IITF premises. “We have approached to the two telecom companies for the Wi-Fi services especially during the trade fair but at they have backed out due to some technical issues,” said the official.

“We will ensure Wi-Fi and Internet services by upcoming “Aahar” —international event that will be held in March next year,” official added.

Nidhi Srivastva, a visitor and IT professional, said that carrying cash is inviting theft in crowded area. “The authority should have provide Wi-Fi and Internet services. People come here for bulk purchasing so card payment is easy, safe and secure mode for both buyers and seller,” she said.

long queues of visitors were noticed outside the Automated Teller Machine (ATM ) machines. The visitors were also complaining for less numbers of ATMs on the premise of IITF.

“There are only three ATM machines and they are fully occupied. Standing in queue outside the ATM is time consuming and an invitation to thieves,” said another visitor.
