Tejpal to spend 10 days more in judicial custody

PNS

In a further blow to Tarun Tejpal, a local court extended his custody by another ten days, with the prosecution arguing that he needs to be in custody during the entire course of their investigations.

Tejpal who has spent more than a month cumulatively in police as well as judicial custody was brought to a court of a judicial magistrate first class on Saturday.

His defence argued that Tejpal should be released on bail, because the police had not shown any interest in questioning him, during his tenure in judicial lock up. The prosecution claimed that Tejpal should be in custody until the entire investigation is completed.

Tejpal, who was arrested Nov 30, 2013, has now spent Christmas as well as New Year as prisoner number 624 at the Sada sub jail in the port-town of Vasco da Gama, located 35 kms from here.
