A young man in his late 20s stabbed his 24-year-old wife in her sleep in Chandni Mahal area late on Friday night. Fareed tried to throw police off the scent by feigning ignorance. But sustained interrogation broke his stubborn resolve and he confessed to snuffing life out of his wife.
Police was intimated only on Saturday at 8.30 am when Fareed called PCR saying he espied on his wife’s limp body. He reportedly had a heated argument with his wife Saima on Friday night and murdered her in her sleep.
The couple was married for two years and has a two-year-old son Farhan. Sources said the husband suspected his wife of infidelity. The victim’s parents too have alleged their son-in-law used to beat Saima up for not meeting dowry demands. Fareed has been taken into police custody and a case has been registered at Chandni Mahal police station under sections of murder and trying to delude investigators.
