Delhiites must remain geared up for any change in weather condition similar to Friday’s as the Met Department has predicted duststorms and thunderstorms even on Sunday. The western disturbance is still looming over the Capital and the temperature is likely to remain around 40°C.

“The skies will remain cloudy throughout the day on Sunday. Duststorm or thunderstorm may occur as well. So people must stay alert. Rain accompanied with storm may occur,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This is because the western disturbance which formed over Iran and came to Northern India via Afghanistan and Pakistan is still hovering around the city, he added. The maximum and the minimum temperature on Sunday are likely to hover around 40°C and 25°C.

Unlike the havoc created by Friday’s storm, Saturday witnessed a calm day. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25°C, three notches below the season’s average. City dwellers witnessed a warm day with the maximum temperature recorded at 41.6°C, a notch above the season’s average. Friday witnessed a sudden weather change after a storm and heavy downpour. Fierce winds blew at a record speed of over 114 kmph and took the lives of nine people in Delhi- NCR and left over 24 people injured.
