RSS working to unite Hindus: Bhagwat

PNS

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said his organization was not working against the interest of any community rather it was working to unite and strengthen the Hindus.

Attending a rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata Bhagwat said “we are not working against anyone but only working to unite the Hindu community” adding his organisation was working to “unite the Hindu community and for its empowerment.”

Wondering whether anyone had the power to stop his organisation from doing its work he said “can anyone stop usIJ No one can stop us. We have to work. We have and we will keep on doing it. Increase activism.

He was speaking on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The Kolkata Police had earlier stopped the holding of the programme despite a clearance from the Army which owns the Ground. However the Calcutta High Court subsequently granted the permission on legal ground, notwithstanding with a rider and asked the Kolkata Police Commissioner to show cause in two week’s time to show cause for the display of his alleged bureaucratic arrogance.

Underscoring that the RSS was adept in working amidst adversities he said “we accept challenges and obstacles and work with it. We enjoy working amid obstacles.”

Bhagwat had earlier courted controversy for asking why the Hindus were not increasing their population. “What stops them from increasing their population,” he asked drawing criticism from Congress and BSP.
