Mentioning collection of nearly Rs65,000 crore under his Government’s Income Declaration Scheme (IDS), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that such a huge amount declared voluntarily, now imagine what happen after ‘Surgical Strikes’ would be carried out against those who opted out to reveal their unaccounted money.

Addressing a large gathering at Gujarat’s cultural capital Vadodara at a function to distribute kits to differently abled (Divyang) people, PM Modi indicated stern action against those who didn’t declare black money under IDS ended on September 30 this year.

Modi said that due to Adhaar Card link Jandhan Yojana, beneficiaries of different Government schemes started getting money directly to their accounts. The new arrangement eliminated brokers and middlemen because of whom the beneficiaries were not receiving their full amounts, he said, adding that it also helped the government to plug leakage of Rs36,000 crore annually. Through these two initiatives – IDS scheme as well as Jandhan Yojana, the central government would be able to spend more than Rs1 lakh crore for public welfare, he said.

“Till end of the year 2013-14, generally news related to scams and corruptions used to hit the headlines of newspapers. After the current Government came into power completely different kind of news started appearing in the newspapers. Now news related to progress and fight against corruption are hitting the headlines,” he claimed.

Despite droughts in the past two years, India’s economy considered as fastest growing by the World Bank and other rating agencies, he told. “The Government firmly believe that development is the solution to all problems,” he asserted.
