'No compromise on basic purpose of land Bill'

PNS

Amid continued lack of consensus between the Opposition as also the ruling ally Shiv Sena and the Narendra Modi dispensation over the land Acquisition Bill, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu categorically stated here on Saturday that the Government would not compromise on the basic purpose of the contentious legislation.

Taking to media persons on the sidelines of a function here, Naidu said:  “The new Bill is currently before the joint committee of Parliament. We want the Bill to be passed. We are ready to have suggestions. The Government will consider the collective wisdom of the committee, but we will not compromise on the basic purpose of the land Acquisition Act”.

Naidu said that the joint panel would have to submit its report on the first day of the Monsoon Session on the bill which has already been passed by the lower House.
