Accompanied by the party’s prime ministerial candidate, 86-year-old BJP patriarch lal Krishna Advani on Saturday filed his nomination papers for from Gandhinagar constituency.Showing confidence in Narendra Modi’s leadership, the veteran BJP leader said that Modi would become the next Prime Minister of India.
Advani, who is seeking seventh term in lok Sabha, praised the Gujarat Chief Minister calling him an able administrator.“I have never seen a more brilliant and efficient event manager than Narendrabhai. This capacity he has brought to governance also,” he said adding that Modi was a remarkable leader right from his role as a pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Comparing Modi with the former Prime Minister of the saffron party, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that Vajpayee was a class by himself. “Chief ideologue of the party was Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Atalji was the person who implemented his ideology in governance,” added the former deputy PM.
Clarifying controversy over his desire to contest from Bhopal lok Sabha constituency, Advani said that he never intended to contest from Bhopal, it was some party workers from Madhya Pradesh who wanted him there as BJP candidate.
“Contesting from Gandhinagar is ‘absolute rejoice’ which took me down to decades old memory line,” he said recalling his relations with Gandhinagar and Gujarat from where he is seeking re-election to the lower House for the sixth term.
Referring to his Gujarat connection Advani said: “My father came to Adipur in Kutch for a brief period from Pakistan after partition. He then moved to Kashi, where my grandmother wanted to spend her last days.” Meanwhile, Advani also addressed a gathering of party workers in Ahmedabad and later on inaugurated his election office on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar highway.
