Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal has alleged that her predecessor Barkha Shukla recruited wives of IAS and IPS officials for 49 contractual posts that were never advertised. The allegations have been made by Maliwal in her response to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), which had conducted a search at her office last week on Shukla’s complaint.

“Barkha Shukla Singh made 49 contractual appointments and appointed wives of IAS and IPS officers without giving advertisements and over 2,500 cases were pending when I assumed charge,” Maliwal claimed.

“Present commission has handled 12,000 complaints compared to 3,500 by previous commission. We have also given over 50 recommendations to Government in one year as compared to the recommendations given by previous commission in entire tenure of 8 years,” she further claimed.
