Maken slams AAP for playing dirty politics ahead of Chhath Puja

Staff Reporter

Ahead of Chhath Puja, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president, Ajay Maken, on Saturday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for playing dirty politics around the festival saying that it is unfortunate that the Chhath Puja Samitis are being asked to put up the photos of its Ministers and legislators at the ghats or else they would not be given any funds. He also criticised Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for its lack of preparations.

“It was very unfortunate that the Chhath Puja Samitis are being asked to put up the photos of Aam Aadmi Party Government Ministers and MLAs at the ghats or else they would not be given any funds. By doing this, the AAP Government was playing dirty politics to lower the prestige of a sacred festival like Chhat Puja and insult the Poorvanchalis,” Maken said.

Taking a dig at Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), he said the party has not put enough pressure at BJP led Haryana Government to release fresh water to Yamuna before the festival. The situation was different when Congress was in power in Delhi, he added.

Addressing a Press conference at the Delhi Pollution Control Committee office, Maken alleged thatAam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi and the BJP-led MCDs were playing politics on Chhat Puja for petty political reasons, which was very unfortunate.

Maken said, “Both the AAP Government and the BJP-ruled MCDs were making false claims that they are providing all the facilities to the Chhat Puja Samitis for the preparation of the Chhath festival.”

This year, Chhath Puja festivities began on November 10 and will continue till 14.
