Celebrity Arjun Kapoor was spotted in the Capital at an out of the way event. The actor who was steeped in controversy regarding the AIB roast was in Delhi to inspire and urge people to switch off for an hour during Earth Hour on March 28. Being the brand ambassador for WWF , Kapoor says he is happy if he can contribute towards this noble cause.

“It’s a very routine and simple thing to do. Everyone needs to know when to switch off and when to consume less power. It’s ingrained in them. But still we need to be told.  And that’s precisely what I am doing. Urging and requesting the youth to be a little more environment conscious,” the Ishaqzaade actor tells you. He says the environment will only better with concerted effort from the Government, agencies and people of this country.

“My main target is to influence the youth to be more aware and to take action. They are the future generation and they know how we are struggling because of pollution and other ills. They should take it up as a challenge and inspire others to follow suit,” he says. Is lack of awareness the root of all problemsIJ “The past decade has seen a lot of participation and activities around the environment. WWF has been doing continuous good work to promote and initiate such programmes. But the key lies in technology which has really made awareness possible.

Earlier we had to rely on the print or television media to announce such events. Now the internet has a plethora of options. Social media plays a huge role,” Kapoor, whose latest film Finding Fanny fetched him a lot of critical acclaim, says. So, what’s keeping him busyIJ “I’ve kept my schedule very free, very intentionally. I had not taken a break last year, so I thought it was about time. I’m meeting a lot of people to gather information about my upcoming film,” the dashing youth icon signs off.
