luv Sinha

Son of ace actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha and elder brother of Sonakshi, luv believes that though Sadiyaan (2010) didn’t to well, he is now mentally prepared to make a re-entry in Bollywood. He is excited about his new movies with director Umesh Shukla and a film under Balaji banner. Sangeeta yadavchats up with him

What is keeping you busy these daysIJ

I have signed up for a film with Umesh Shukla. It is a fast paced thriller and a very entertaining script giving out a strong message. There is a political angle to it as well. This film will go on the floor early next year. In the meanwhile, I’m doing my own bit of research for this film and spending a lot of time with Umesh to understand his style of working. It’s the director, producer and the script that I always consider important before signing a script. I have also signed a film under the Balaji banner but I can’t reveal anything about that.

How are you preparing for this roleIJ

I’m preparing for my action sequence which is completely Bollywood style and not like martial arts. I have also lost a few kilos to look fit.

What is the bond that you share with Sonakshi  and KushIJ

We share a great bond. Where Kush is more logical, Sonakshi is impulsive and I’m an emotional person. We discuss a lot about issues but we never keep issues between us. We prefer to sort it out.

What do you have to say about Sonakshi’s achievementIJ

When she was scripting her debut in Bollywood, everybody in the family was confident that her film will do well and she would bag a lot of accolades. We have all been exposed to the lifestyle of a superstar and have been associated with the industry very closely. All three of us would spend a lot of time at the sets with our parents. We have been taught to value stardom and never take it for granted. We would never do anything which our parents would not like. Also, we would never use our father’s name to get our work done. Instead, we believe in making an identity of our own.

Has Shatrughan Sinha influenced decision makingIJ

He is always there for all of us. He is our true inspiration and we look up to him for all kinds of advise. At times, we have different opinions and we discuss it at length. Coming from a non-filmi background, the struggle he has gone through to become a superstar, is indeed an inspiration. My mother is a very warm and caring person.

It’s been a long break for you after  Sadiyaan which was released in 2010. What have you been up toIJ

I made my debut when I was 25. There was so much that I had to learn. There were many mistakes that I had committed. But this time round, I am better prepared to face the world.

I took this time to sharpen my skills. I joined an acting workshop. I have learnt a lot in these three years. I am also quite interested in writing scripts.

Have you set a prescribed norm for yourselfIJ

No. I am here to enjoy. I want to concentrate on my films.  I’ll set my don’ts accordingly.

You are also planning to revive Shotgun Movies and venture as a producer...

I’ve a decent understanding of scripting stories and as a producer, I want to take Shotgun Movies to greater heights. I’m also on a hunt to source scripts across genres but nothing concrete has been finalised yet.

How has cinema changed over the yearsIJ

Technically, we have progressed a lot but we need to go a long way to match up to the international standards.

But I wish we don’t blindly copy Hollywood films. We should not lose the essence of Indian cinema and should incorporate new ideas.
