Day after resignation of Bellary baron lad

The day after the resignation of Bellary mining baron and Infrastructure and Information Minister Santosh lad from the Siddaramaiah Cabinet, a group of people has ransacked and threatened the office assistant of SR Hiremath, founder president of Samaj Parivartana Samudaya (SPS) at Dharwad in north Karnataka on Saturday.

According to Hiremath, a group of six persons came to his office in the morning and threatened the office assistant and ransacked the table. They also warned him of dire consequences.

The incident occurred at the office of SPS at Sadhanakeri in Dharwad, when the woman assistant had come early to the office on Saturday.

He said, “I was told by her that a group of five-six persons barged into the office, asked for me, warned of dire consequences and said that they would teach me a lesson. They reportedly ransacked what was kept on the table and left the place immediately after. I have informed the police.”

It may be recalled that after a long battle Hiremath provided documentary evidence of lad’s involvement in illegal mining which forced Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to ask lad to resign.

In fact, Hiremath had submitted many documents to Governor HN Bhardwaj asking him to intervene and sack lad who is allegedly involved in illegal mining.

In a letter to the Governor, along with 126-page document which the Samudaya claims to prove the involvement of lad in illegal mining, had pointed out that VS lad & Sons, in which lad is a partner, has been categorised as ‘C’ grade company by the joint team of CEC and thereby its mining operations be suspended and lease cancelled and that a police investigation was pending against the company for illegal mining.

Hiremath had claimed that Minister lad was third partner in the company, holding 25 per cent and drawing salary of Rs 1.08 crore per annum and can’t distance himself from the allegations.

Governor Bhardwaj on Friday had asked Siddaramaiah to take action to protect his image.
