A Japanese national was arrested for allegedly thrashing, harassing and abusing a 24-year-old woman employee of his company after locking her in his cabin in South Delhi's Mehrauli on Wednesday, police said on Saturday.

According to a senior police official, the accused has been identified as Taishi Yoshimura, a resident of Fiji in Japan. The accused is heading a foreign company named Microad India Pvt ltd and is currently staying in Nanakpura in south Delhi.

The victim, who stays in Gurgaon and is the daughter of a homoeopathic doctor, alleged that she was being mentally harassed by Yoshimura for a long time.

“My boss used to abuse and harass me in front of all the employees and call me dumb and idiot. He would frequently tell me in front of others that he would sack me anytime he wished. He also asks me to work for extra hours after my shift gets over,” alleged the victim

On Tuesday night, after the victim went home, the accused called her, asking objectionable questions, said police. “When I came to office the next day and asked him why he asked me such objectionable and vulgar questions, he asked me for my laptop and mobile so that he could delete the chats and his number from my phone log. As I protested to this, he started shouting at me and threw his files at me. He even threw the landline telephone at me. I was shocked and scared,” said the victim.

After this, the victim was about to leave his cabin, when he rushed to the door and locked it from inside, said police, adding, “After locking the cabin door, the accused allegedly pulled the victim's towards him and would not let her go and  even thrashed her, in spite of her pleading for mercy.”

The victim had earlier consulted her friends, who had suggested her to complain about the matter to police. Finally, after again being harassed on Wednesday, she registered a complaint against him at the Mehrauli Police station. A first information report was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Immediately a team was sent to the victim's office and the accused was brought to the police station for questioning. “Initially the accused denied the charges of harassment, but later broke down and confessed to it, saying he did so in a fit of rage. The accused was then arrested,” said the police official.

Further investigations in the matter is on.
