Given the sizeable presence of Poorvanchali voters in the city, Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar participated in three back-to-back rallies across the Capital. The city has nearly 40 lakh Poorvanchali voters. While holding incumbent Congress Government responsible for the miserable condition of migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to Delhi, Nitish said migrant colonies still lack basic amenities. They are wilfully ignored even though they have a major role to play in the development of the city.
The Bihar leader also used this opportunity to attack BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Nitish held his first rally in Dwarka and participated in two other rallies in Sangam Vihar and Okhla. All these Assemblies have a significant population of migrants. Three more public meetings are scheduled in Kirari, Burari and Ghonda. The party is contesting 27 seats in Delhi in the Assembly elections.
The Bihar CM also slammed BJP’s model of development, which primarily focusses over the growth of developed regions and said the schemes of Government must be made keeping in mind all sections of society. “Half the population of Delhi comprises Poorvanchalis, but their colonies are still under-developed. They are living without clean water and other basic amenities. The ruling parties have always played votebank politics. If candidates of Janata Dal (United) wrest seats, they will work for development of these colonies and will ensure a better life to migrants,” said Nitish.
