Considering the initiative of the AAP Government to take the draft Bill for full statehood of Delhi before the people a fresh attempt to pick up conflict with the Union Government, leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said this is a gimmick of the AAP Government after total failure to discharge its assigned responsibilities.

“If Delhi Government was serious for full statehood to Delhi, it should have sent a proposal to the Union Government and discussed the matter with them. By not acting correctly, the  AAP Government has spread a new dice, which is only a delusion. CM knows well that the Constitution will have to be amended to provide full statehood to Delhi,” he said.

Gupta stated that the Delhi Government intentionally finds new issues to have conflict with the Union Government so that people of Delhi could be misled. “If AAP wanted to provide full statehood to Delhi, it should have formed its first Government with the Congress on the condition that it was ready to support the Constitutional Amendment to this effect and will get the same passed in the Rajya Sabha. The Congress ruled Delhi for 15 years. They promised to provide full statehood to Delhi, only to never fulfil that promise. Same is the case with the AAP Government,” Gupta added.
