A body of an unidentified homeless woman was found on a footpath near Lady Irwin College at Mandi House in the early hours of Saturday. Police suspects the woman died due to due to health issues or cold weather.
According to a senior police official, they have received a Police Control Room (PCR) call regarding the body around 2 am on Saturday following which a team was sent to the spot.
"At the spot woman aged between 35- 40 year-old was on spot dead. There were burn injuries on the body. However, the wounds were not fresh. A plastic bag containing food items was found near the body," said the senior police official.
"No foul play is suspected. Further investigation is going on to identify the deceased. The body has been shifted to nearby hospital for autopsy," the senior police official added.
