Tessa Thompson talks about her character in Creed II in a short interview
You have been in a lot of big banner films and in TV series, how does it feel to come back to the Creed franchise?
It was great. This is the first time that I have ever come back to the franchise and it’s the first time for Mike as well. We had such an instant rapport. We both were a little hesitant because we didn’t have Ryan Coogler who guided us to the first one but Steven Caple Jr was a perfect filmmaker. I just loved playing this character and I loved being in Philadelphia.
What’s Bianca’s frame of mind considering that she has to provide emotional support to Adonis in probably his biggest challenge ever?
I think it’s always been special to me about Adonis and Bianca and their love story. They care deeply for each other but they are also independent. And they acknowledge that they have to do certain things alone.
What’s your favourite film from the Rocky franchise?
Rocky 1, because it’s the most beautiful love story that happens to take place in the ring of boxing. It was also a kind of love that as a kid I thought I could relate to because it wasn’t too steamy. It’s also just how Sly (Sylvester Stallone) got that film made, he is just like a renegade filmmaker.
Why should fans watch Creed II?
I am staring at Michael B Jordan’s chest, that’s one if you are into that kind of thing. Then there is a lot in it with Drago. This film is centrally around family so it’s a good film to see on holidays with your family.
A message for the fans in India?
I am a fan of India and I have been all across the country but except central India, so yes, I want to come back and see it. So, Hi India, I want to come back and see you.
