PNS

A GRP personnel was killed and another seriously wounded in a running train near Chausa in Buxar on late Friday evening. The escort party in the Mughalsarai-Buxar passenger train was attacked by unknown assailants. They also took away their Insas rifles.

GRP constable Abhishek Singh who belonged to UP died in the running train while constable Nandlal Yadav, also from UP, was grievously injured when they were attacked by half a dozen criminals. Yadav, being treated at BHU Medical College, Varanasi said, “the criminals suddenly took out their arms and started firing on us. We were caught unaware.”

Mughasarai GRP SHO Tripurari Pandey said the two constables were escorting the night passenger train originating from Mughalsarai. The incident, he added, possibly took place near Chausa in Buxar district under Danapur division of East Central Railway. The constables sustained bullet injuries in their chest and abdomen. Pandey said Yadav’s condition was still very critical.

However, there was no report of the looting of the passengers by the criminals who are believed to have targeted only the cops with an intention to loot their firearms. This also created suspicion that the assailants might have been Maoists.

The senior officials of the GRP from UP and Bihar rushed to the spot and conducted combing operation between Chausa and Dildarnagar. An FIR has been lodged with the Buxar GRP. But it was still not clear where actually the attack was made. No arrest has been made till Saturday evening.
