Goel blames Delhi Govt for Yamuna pollution

SR

Seeking immediate implementation of directions given by the High Power Committee formed by the Supreme Court set up to look into the deteriorating state of river Yamuna, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Vijay Goel held the Delhi Government responsible for the mess on Saturday.

While releasing a Vision Document to save the river, Goel alleged that the Central and Delhi Congress Governments have wasted Rs 3,500 crore in the name of saving. He said however, Yamuna remains unchanged.

A nine-point action plan has been suggested in the vision document. This plan includes release of sufficient water from Hathini Kund Barrage, implementations of the directions given by high power committee formed by Supreme Court, complete solution of the sewerage system and installation of efficient Sewage Treatment Plants.

It also suggests rain water harvesting and conservation of ground water, dual water distribution system and announcement of Yamuna river bed as a protected area.
