Around 110 people have lost their lives while many others have suffered injuries since the expressway became operational in August 2012. Majority of incidents have been reported during winter season when the stretch witnesses low visibility.
Some cases of overspeeding and tyre bursts have also been reported which reflects poor arrangement of concerned authority. This season alone has witnessed eight major incidents, 14 deaths and injuries to more than 50 people. Out of these, seven happened during night and early morning due to inadequate road lights.
