A driver of a Delhi-based doctor was robbed at gunpoint on Friday evening when he was waiting for the latter near a prominent hotel in south Delhi. Two unidentified assailants put the victim at gunpoint and fled away with the SUV.
The driver was identified as Kasinder Yadav and was working for Aromatherapist Dr Blossom Kochhar.
The incident took place in the evening when Yadav was waiting for Kochhar not quite far from a prominent hotel in the Vasant Kunj area, when two youths approached him and pulled out a gun, a police official said. The duo allegedly pointed the gun at Yadav and asked for the keys, following which they fled with the Toyota Fortuner car, the official said. He said the incident was reported to the police by the locals, who rushed to help Yadav, after the accused fled the spot.
Kochhar’s daughter Samantha Kochhar told the police that the incident took place near an unmanned police post in the area. “The whole incident reeks of police apathy. The check post is usually manned by two policemen but no one was present there at the time of the incident,” she claimed.
Confirming the robbing, a senior police official from South District said, “The robbery occurred in the evening, however, no further details have been ascertained yet.”
