Constable recruitment examinees given test papers meant for Head Constable position
Owing to a major faux pas committed by the recruitment cell of Delhi Police, the written test for the post of Head Constable (Ministerial) Male/Female has been postponed till further notice. The test was to be conducted on Sunday. It has been learnt that the reason behind the cancellation was that the paper meant for Head Constable (Ministerial) post was circulated on Saturday during the written examination to recruit constables. The mistake was realised when those tasked to conduct the examination were stumped to find wrong paper being circulated for the constables’ examination. The fallout of the blunder also led the Delhi Police authorities to cancel the examination that was held on Saturday. The reason for the cancellation was cited as the distribution of the wrong set of papers.
In a major goof-up, thousands of applicants who appeared in the Constable (Ministerial) exam on Saturday were left in the lurch after the concerned authorities distributed the wrong paper thereby resulting in cancellation of the test. Police sources said that around 56,000 candidates have appeared against a declared vacancy of 200 on Saturday and 77,000 candidates were supposed to appear in the examination to be held on Sunday for 214 posts. The Delhi Police top brass decided to cancel the test after the fault came to light. On Saturday, the recruitment for the post of Constable (Ministerial) was cancelled following laxity on the part of invigilators. The authorities distributed question booklets meant for Head Constable (Ministerial) post on Saturday prompting the Delhi Police to announce the cancellation of the Sunday test.
Some of the candidates in their Wazirabad centre of the Delhi Police said they were first distributed the OMR answer sheet. And after few question booklets were distributed by the invigilators, it was alerted that the wrong paper was being given to the candidates.
However, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat denied that the Head Constable (Ministerial) paper was distributed on Saturday and claimed that the examination was cancelled due to a technical glitch. “The written examination for recruitment to the post of Head Constable (Ministerial) in the Delhi Police scheduled for March 9 stands postponed. Fresh date will be announced soon,” he added.
