Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s remarks on shortage of potable water and vertical growth of the city have drawn the ire of the BJP. Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel on Saturday criticised the Government’s poor water management while Vijender Gupta, former chief of the State unit, condemned her opposition to vertical growth in the city.
“The CM is misleading the common man. At least 40 per cent of water is getting wasted due to poor water management. We only need to plug this leakage and there will be sufficient water. But the DJB has failed to do this during last 15 years of Congress rule here,” Goel said.
Referring to a recent statement by the CM, he added that it was grossly insensitive of her to have said that no one should complain about water in Delhi as none have died of thirst. Gupta alleged that the CM is ignorant about the present provisions of the Master Plan Delhi-2021.
“The MPD 2021 already has provisions for vertical growth of the city. If vertical development is not permitted then the concept of the Group Housing Societies will be lost and the problem of housing in the city will never be solved,” Gupta said.
