'Creating romantic songs is what I love most'

Parth Tayal

PAlASH MUCHHAl, one of the youngest music composers in the country, talks to Parth Tayal about his latest song

You are the youngest and one of the most successful music composer/director in Bollywood. Whom do you owe your success toIJ

I really owe a lot to my parents as they gave me complete freedom to follow my dream. I am aware of the fact that there are many composers out there who are much more talented than me. Over the years I have learnt a lot from so many people, so I definitely owe a lot to all those people who have been by my side.

What kind of music would you be interested in creatingIJ

To create more of romantic songs — that’s my  genre. Though after the success of Party toh banti hain producers have been asking me to compose more of item numbers, but my individual interest lies in composing the romantic songs.

Why composing, and not singingIJ

I am a better composer, than a singer. Though I have done concerts with Palak di and people really appreciated my voice, but feel like an amateur while singing. Till now singers have been singing my composition. But may be after a few years, I may sing my own compositions.

Your take on remixes.

I don’t think singers do complete justice while recreating a song, but saying that some of the remixes have been really hit and much of the credit goes to the singer, rather than the one who originally sung the song. I don’t think I will ever recreate a song, but if I get a chance lag jaa gale would be at the top of my list.

You directed a movie (BroJaan) with I-phone 7.

It is possible to shoot with iPhone; many Hollywood movies have been shot on it. The actors enjoy it too.

You are a composer, actor and a director now. Which hat do you like to wearIJ

I am a music composer first, everything else is second.

What nextIJ

Right now I am focusing on my current projects in hand. We have recently  launched a song Musafir which is doing great and I am busy promoting it and I am also composing a song for Zareen Khan’s next Aksar 2. So my hands are full.
