The CPM on Saturday condemned the Israeli attacks on Gaza and urged the Narendra Modi Government to raise the issue at international fora and demand immediate cessation of the strikes. Terming the excuses given by the Israeli Government for the attack “tenuous”, the CPI(M)’s Politburo said there can be no justification for the “blatant” aggression in contravention of established international laws.
“The Politburo strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Gaza. CPI(M) calls upon the Government of India to strongly condemn this Israeli aggression on Palestine and demand an immediate cessation of the attack at international fora,” said a CPI(M) Press release.
CPI(M) said that for the past five days, Gaza has been subjected to bombardment from the air and the sea. More than 120 people have been killed, including children, as the missiles have targeted residential areas, the party claimed.
“The excuses given by Israeli Government for the attacks are tenuous. There can be no justification for the blatant aggression which is in contravention of all established international laws,” the party said, adding that UN Security Council should ‘immediately’ intervene to end hostilities.
