Cops visit Bihar to nab accused, detain three

SP Singh

Three people were detained in the alleged rape and murder of a five-year-old girl whose body was found on Friday midnight in Ghaziabad.

The Ghaziabad SSP Deepak Kumar said the father and brother of suspected accused — Afroz and one Alam — have been detained and a team of police has been sent to Khagaria in Bihar where Afroz belongs. “We hope to nab him shortly,” added SSP.

Earlier, tension prevailed in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad after the accused was identified from a different community as Afroz, a mason who works in construction sites in the Indirapuram area.

Police, however, have not confirmed the rape allegation.

Heavy police force was deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident. The girl was missing since Thursday. She was last seen serving a glass of water to Afroz who was working on a site outside her house.

Earlier, the accused was living in priest’s house as a tenant. But the priest shunted him out a week ago after a spat with him over some issue. After which he shifted in the neighborhood on rent. local residents alleged that Afroz could have raped and murdered the child to take revenge from the family after he faced a humiliation of forceful eviction from the house.

After the dead body of the girl was found, the local residents of Kinaoni shouted slogans outside the Indirapuram police station. They alleged that though the girl was missing since Thursday, police was least bothered to crack the case.

later on police swung into action and found the body of the child lying in a half constructed house opposite girl’s own residence.

“We have registered the case and raids are being conducted to nab the culprit. The allegation of rape could only be confirmed after the post morgen report is reached to us. But the crime is grave we will arrest the culprit at the earliest,” said SP City Salman Taj Patil.
