God can help us when we find ourselves helpless; connecting with him is beneficial, says Ajit Kumar Bishnoi
What am I talking aboutIJ Connect to whom and why should we stay connectedIJ I am referring to God. This raises two questions: one, does God really existIJ Two, what benefits will we derive by connecting with GodIJ
Before I answer these two questions, let me establish our identity. Who do you think we areIJ Are we these bodies that we see or are we something elseIJ If we indeed are these material bodies, then why do we stop identifying ourselves with these bodies once someone passes awayIJ Have you ever heard someone saying that let us take him or her to the cremation groundIJ Why don’t we do thatIJ Why do we always say that let us take his or her body to the crematoriumIJ The body is still there, what change has taken place with deathIJ Whether we consciously realise or not, we know that the real person has left the body ie the soul has departed from the body. This is the starting point for understanding what I am trying to convey. Without this understanding, our consciousness is at the material level or to put it very bluntly at the animal level; animals cannot comprehend the concept of soul or of God.
Now, answering the second question. First, we can all agree that we, souls, are very small. Aren’t weIJ What is our powerIJ Why do we get worried, fearful and anxious for the smallest things in our livesIJ If we are really powerful, we should ensure we get what we want. What is the logic of getting anxiousIJ Therefore, let us accept in all humility that we indeed are very small and not so powerful. Is someone other than us big and powerfulIJ Yes, God is. From time immemorial, mankind has accepted that God is all-powerful. Not only that, God is also all-pervading, otherwise what will be the purpose of praying to him, say in our dining roomsIJ Because God is unlimited. He can help us where we find ourselves helpless. Therefore, connecting with God is highly beneficial.
Now coming to the first question of the existence of God; where does he not existIJ God is everywhere in his unmanifest form. lord Krishna states in the Bhagavad Gita: “God is unmanifest and all-pervading.” (9.3) Again, “I incarnate myself whenever it is necessary to do so.” (4.7) These statements may sound highly conceptual, but the easiest way to get solid proof of God’s existence is to seek it from God himself. He is more than happy to provide the same. His only requirement is that we connect with him first in the prescribed way. And God has stated how this can be done in bona fide scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita. If we can do that, we will not only see evidence of God’s existence in our day to day lives, but will also become fully God conscious. Our material or animal consciousness will be replaced by spiritual consciousness and we will realise that we are spirit souls and not material bodies.
Our spiritual journey will take off. We will achieve the elusive peace of mind and gradually become blissful. That is why it is so important to connect with God and remain connected with him. Do you agreeIJ I welcome your comments.
