A showcause notice will be soon issued to a losing Congress lok Sabha candidate who blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his loss and the Congress rout during the general elections, a party spokesperson said Saturday.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress State headquarters, spokesperson Akbar Mulla said that Ravi Naik, who unsuccessfully contested from the North Goa seat, had no right to blame Singh for the loss.“The party has taken firm objection to the comments made by Naik. He himself has not worked hard skipping several public meetings we had organised for him....

“Our president is in the process of issuing him a show cause notice for his comments on the PM. He has no business blaming the Singh. The comments amount to violation of party discipline,” Mulla said.Addressing a Press conference earlier this week, Naik had said, “Manmohan Singh, our Prime Minister should have gone to every State explaining to people about all the good things done by UPA Government in 10 years...”

Naik also said that Singh had been unable to explain the achievements of his Government to the people. Naik, who has been accused of links to the drug mafia in a legislative committee report, lost to BJP’s Shripad Naik.
