The iconic blue Wagon R car of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been recovered by the Delhi Police. The car was found parked in the Mohan Nagar are of Ghaziabad district on Saturday. The police also recovered a sword from inside the vehicle. The police, who were informed about an abandoned car by the Ghaziabad police, confirmed it was the Chief Minister’s car after checking the vehicle’s engine chassis number. Deputy Commissioner of Police, central district, MS Randhawa said, “After checking the car’s engine chassis number we verified it and found out that it was the particular stolen car. We are on the lookout for the car thieves”. On Saturday morning, the Ghaziabad police alerted their counterparts in Delhi Police about an abandoned Blue Wagon R bearing a Delhi registration number at Mohan Nagar. “Acting on this information, two teams of central district police immediately rushed and recovered the car,” a senior police officer added. “The car has been brought to the Indraprastha Police Station. Investigations indicate that only one person was behind the theft and the accused had probably taken the car for a joyride and had parked it at a random place in Ghaziabad. Although we are not ruling out the involvement of a car lifter gang,” he said. The car was used by the CM before but now it is used by Aam Aadmi Party media cell head Vandana Kumari. “We have some crucial leads which will lead us to the criminal,” said Delhi Police, Public Relation Officer, Madhur Verma. Investigators are scanning the dossier of auto-lifters to nab the person responsible for the theft. Based on CCTV footage from near the Delhi Secretariat — which had shown the car being stolen on Thursday — the anti-auto-theft squad (AATS) of the central district is trying to identify the person who stole the car. “They got crucial leads after they found footage that shows a man, wearing a T-shirt and aged around 40-years, sitting inside the car. He later started the car and left the spot. later, police found another piece of footage from Indraprastha Park Metro station that showed the car crossing the Metro station,” according to a senior police officer.
