BJP to announce candidates only after Gujarat poll dates

PNS

Bharatiya Janata Party will declare candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat only after the dates for the much awaited polls will be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI), said Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani.

According to Vaghani, the saffron party was not in hurry to name candidates for the Assembly polls and even after the announcement by the ECI the candidates would get adequate time for the poll preparedness.

Assembly elections in the State are scheduled in December this year. The ruling party has been positioned comfortably, especially after the resignation of 14 Congress MlAs including that of leader of Opposition Shankersinh Vaghela. Moreover, party organisation of BJP in the State is stronger than that of Congress. In the past three Assembly polls, the BJP candidates contested elections on party’s organisational strength while in the case of Congress, candidates of the grand old party relied on personal strength rather than party organisation.

Meanwhile, in wake of the upcoming polls, Gujarat BJP has come on election mode and planned slew of programmes to reach out to voters across the state. For the purpose a state-level meeting of the BJP leaders was held at party’s Gujarat headquarters ‘Shri Kamalam’ on Friday evening in which district in-charge of the party were told to reach out the voters.
