The on-going war between lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over transfer and posting of senior officers in the national Capital has reportedly left several senior bureaucrats without any assignment, according to sources. There are about half-a-dozen other officers, who had already been assigned postings by the Centre outside Delhi, but are still functioning in the city administration, said sources.
Among the bureaucrats still awaiting postings in the Delhi Government include 1991-batch IAS officer Mohanjeet Singh, who was transferred from Puducherry, Juhi Mukherjee, a 2007-batch officer who was moved from Mizoram and Jitendra Narayan a 1990-batch officer. Besides, Vivek Pandey, a 2003-batch officer, who was transferred from Puducherry to Delhi, is kept awaiting. Keshav Chandra, who returned from his study tour, has now reported to the Delhi Government. DS Nijhar is also kept on waiting. There are half dozen officials who had not been assigned any job or portfolio.
Sources said earlier the l-G was on leave. Now Secretary (Services) Rajendra Kumar is on leave and will return from September 29.
On the other hand, all eyes are set on the Union Home Ministry’s proposed September 29 Joint Cadre Authority (JCA) meeting which is to take call on bureaucrats who had been assigned work outside Delhi. The JCA meeting held in July had transferred Director Education Padmini Singla to Goa, Secretary Environment Sanjiv Kumar to Mizoram, Food Commissioner Sanjiv Khirwar to Andaman & Nicobar Islands and VAT Commissioner Vijay Kumar. Except for Sanjiv Kumar, all the officers did not take up new postings as the final call on them would be taken on September 29.
