Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe is currently on a break and is set to start anew on April 28. With a new star judge, fresh concepts and stiff competition, this season promises a lot of fun. Deebashree Mohanty finds out more

It’s been a hilarious six years of Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe and this season is going to get even more funny. Or so the organisers say. With Arbaaz Khan stepping into younger brother Sohail Khan’s shoes to judge the comedy show, the TV world is abuzz with excitement. The move Sohail to Arbaaz could go either way but a source says that for the channel, Arbaaz is a bigger star who will do wonders to the already decent TRPs. The last season had a whopping average of 3.1 all through.

As for Arbaaz, he is in no mood to reveal much except, of course, that he will be on the show “Comedy is a difficult genre and I’m happy to see the response this show has got. The participants are so funny. Many of them have used this as a platform to achieve bigger goals and I’m going to help them do so. I’m in the show to have some fun too and I shall make sure there is plenty of it for everyone else,” Khan, who played a funny role in Hello Brother and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, says.

He says, there is no question of any competition between his brother who has dropped out of the upcoming season to take a sabbatical. “Not me, not anyone can take his place and nor do I want to. I was approached by the channel and I thought it was a good idea to experiment on TV. So I’m here. let’s see where we go from here,” Khan says.

The channel, meanwhile, is busy putting things together for this new season and we hear that apart from the judges even the concept is going to change. As for the participants, they are happy with the exposure the show is giving them. “It has been a learning experience from Day One. Comedy Circus is my home. Jeena yahan, marna yahan. As for Arbaaz bhai donning the hat of a judge, we are only too happy. Of course, we will miss Sohail bhai a lot. But for the time being, we are busy digging out one-liners on Arbaaz,” Krishna, one of Sohail’s favourite contestants, says. He feels it will be easier to mimic Arbaaz than his younger brother.

“We always      cracked jokes on Sohail but all that was taken in the spirit of the competition. let’s hope we are able to get the same laughs out of our new judge. It may be difficult but we shall try,” Krishna Abhishek says.

All this renewed, pepped-up, revamped madness begins Sunday April 28, 2013.
