In yet another alarming incident pertaining to national security, the Border Security Force (BSF) found one more abandoned Pakistani boat from Sir Creek area in the Gulf of Kutch on Saturday.

The boat was traced by the BSF personnel during their routine patrolling in Creek area near Kotehwar coast. It is worth mentioning that Sir Creek is a sensitive 96 km tidal estuary on the border of India and Pakistan. The Creek opens up into the Arabian Sea and divides Gujarat from the Sindh province of Pakistan.

Sources in BSF said that they were wondering by tracing fifth abandoned Pakistani boat in the same area in the past three months. According to highly placed sources in the security force, BSF and other security agencies are trying to understand the reason behind such frequent incidences of abandoned Pakistani boats in Indian waters.

“We haven’t found anything objectionable inside the boat. It is a fishing boat. But why fishermen from the neighbouring country would abandon fishing boats which costs more than Rs10 lakh. We smell something fishy in abandoning the boats in the same pattern,” said a top official.

Recently, BSF found a cross-border tunnel along the International Border in RS Pura sector of Jammu district. The 30-meter-long tunnel which could have been used for infiltration bid was well-constructed and about 10 feet below the ground.

The BSF on Friday lodged a strong protest with Pakistan over this recently discovered cross-border tunnel along the International Border in RS Pura sector of Jammu district. On those lines the security agencies are checking on the whereabouts of the on-board fishermen and trying to find out where the people of these five abandoned boat have eloped. “Why has nobody came forward from across the border to claim the boatsIJ Besides it is not easy to return back to Pakistan after abandoning the boat in Indian waters. We have already intensified patrolling in the bordering areas and instructed BSF guards not to hesitate in interrogating the ones who they find  or think suspicious,” said the official.
