Much to the chagrin of the ruling Trinamool Congress, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the sutdents’ wing of the BJP, won its first students’ union elections in Kolkata bagging 14 seats in BJT College in South Kolkata.
“It was the victory for the students and all those who stood for the cause of peace and education in Bengal,” one of the studetns’ leaders said, adding the ruling “TMC should understand that there time is over in the State. Today’s victory is the prelude to what is going to come in the Corporation elections in Kolkata and other parts of the State.”
Reacting to the ABVP’s victory State Minsiter Partho Chatterjee said, “this is one of victory and the media should also take into account the numerous other colleges where the TMCP has won uncontested.”
