The Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Saturday suspended party MPs Dharamavira Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa from primary membership of the party and initiated disciplinary proceedings against them.

The AAP’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) suspended the MPs and referred disciplinary proceedings against them to the National Disciplinary Action Committee. Gandhi is an MP from Punjab’s Patiala constituency whereas Khalsa represents Fatehgarh Sahib Constituency in the State.

The National Disciplinary Action Committee constitutes of three-members which include Pankaj Gupta, Dilip Pandey and Deepak Bajpai who will look into the complaints of anti-party activities.

According to the statement, there have been several instances where the two were trying to establish a parallel organisation within the party with the sole objective of damaging it in Punjab.

“Gandhi and Khalsa have criticised the party leadership and the decisions taken by the party on several occasions in the media. Not only Gandhi and Khalsa used the Press to express their disagreement with the party on various issues, they also openly disobeyed the party on several occasions and refused to follow party discipline,” the AAP stated.

Alleging that Gandhi and Khalsa have joined hands with the BJP-SAD leaders in Punjab and have betrayed the party, they party accused the BJP-SAD regime of making the State a hub of narcotics trade. “Well-oiled state run corruption machinery has completely paralyzed the Government apparatus. Fed up with two terms of misrule by the BJP-SAD combine, people of Punjab have decided to go with AAP to bring Delhi model of corruption free governance to the State,” the party claimed.
