Yoga getting popular in Uzbekistan

Yoga is gaining popularity among the local people in Uzbekistan who regard it not as a physical exercise only but have accepted it as a way of life. The Indian Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan, established in 1995 and renamed as lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture in 2005, organises regular yoga classes in its premises in Uzbekistan. “Yoga is getting very popular among the local people. Considering the number of people practicing yoga at our centre regularly and those queuing to be enrolled for the classes, one can easily see how popular yoga is,” says the centre’s director Rajesh Mehta. So what attracts them to yogaIJ “Most of them say it is a stress buster,” says Manjunath.

Walnut may prevent heart disease

Researchers from the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Centre found that daily intake of 56 gm of walnuts improves endothelial function in overweight adults with visceral adiposity. The study included a sample of 46 adults aged 30-75. Participants had a Body Mass Index larger than 25, and a waist circumference exceeding 40 inches for men and 35 inches for women. They were also required to be non-smokers, and all exhibited one or more additional risk factors for metabolic syndrome, a precursor of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The group was randomly assigned to two 8-week sequences of either a walnut-enriched ad libitum diet or an ad libitum diet without walnuts. The research found that daily intake of 56 gm of walnuts improves endothelial function in overweight adults with visceral adiposity.

Get going Through Sleep Practice

Every single one of us is supposedly wired for ‘genius’ status, though — in most of us — this potential is never realised. WhyIJ According to long-time researcher and practitioner of a technique known as Yoga Nidra, the mind, when in a relaxed and receptive state, can access it’s greatest possibilities. These possibilities include learning multiple languages and remembering far better than in normal waking states. Yoga Nidra is a ‘conscious sleep’ practice which removes the mental blocks and screens keeping us from accessing our hidden potential. Young people, especially those who are not buried under a lifetime of conditioning and emotional baggage, have the opportunity to unlock deep seated potential through this ancient and unique sleep practice.
