Dr Michael Zuk purchased lennon’s tooth in 2011 and since taken it around the world, used it to make a line of DNA pendants and now, handed it over to scientists to extract the DNA code from the rotted molar. “If scientists think they can clone Mammoths, then John lennon could be next,” Zuk said. “I am nervous and excited at the possibility that we will be able to fully sequence John lennon’s DNA, very soon I hope,” he said. “With researchers working on ways to clone mammoths, the same technology certainly could make human cloning a reality.” (UPI)
$10,000 cash rains down from chopper
lewes Harbor in Delaware (US) was the scene of what some may consider a dream come true. As reported by WBOC 16, on August 17 afternoon between 3-4 pm, a low flying helicopter hovered over the marina for over 5 minutes dropping $10,000 in cash to stunned onlookers below. Kara Miele, who works at a marina pub called Irish Eyes, witnessed it all unfold and said, “It was just like, nobody really knew what was happening until it happened... And then the customers ran over. We ran over and then like, nobody was like fighting with each other for it but everybody was just scrambling trying to grab everything that they possibly could.”
The event was the request of the late leonard Maull, who died one year ago and visited the marina at least once a day. But even Bill Berry, Maull’s trustee, did not know the motivation behind the stunt request in his will saying, “I would’ve never thought leonard would do anything like this.” Adding, “It was his money and I figured he could do what he wanted to do with it.” Specifically Maull asked that $10,000 in equal denominations of $5, $10, $20 and $50 bills be dropped over the marina a year after his death on a Summer Saturday. The lewes police were aware of the event and prepared with officers in the area to ensure that there was no fighting. (Yahoo News)
Mother reports son keeping alligator in bathtub
Police in Florida said a woman called authorities to report her adult son was keeping a live alligator in her bathtub. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said a Deltona woman called deputies to report her 45-year-old son, Sean lewis, was keeping an alligator in the bathtub at their home, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. The mother said the alligator had been a gift from a female friend and she decided to call deputies when her son failed to get rid of the reptile after she told him she wanted it out of the bathtub. lewis was arrested on a charge of intentional possession of an alligator. like father, baby girl is born in a parking lot
An Illinois man’s daughter followed in his foot steps when, like her dad some 33 years ago, she was birthed in a parking lot, the family said. Frank Pavlik, 33, was born in the parking lot of louis Joilet Mall in Joliet unable to wait for his parents to make it to the hospital for a proper delivery.
And it was deja vu for the clan when Pavlik’s wife, Erica Pavlik, pregnant with the couple’s third child, found herself in a remarkably similar situation. Having already gone through labour twice and after experiencing a false labour with their third child, Erica Pavlik said she didn’t think she needed to be in any particular rush when she first felt contractions, WBBM-AM, Chicago, reported.
When the contractions quickly began to intensify Erica Pavlik called her mother to rush her to the hospital because Frank was at work. The women never made it that far. They were forced to pull over about 10 minutes away from home in a gas station parking lot where Pavlik’s mother delivered a baby girl, Hannah, safe and sound before paramedics could arrive to assist.
