la liga President Javier Tebas on Thursday announced that the kick-off timings of the Spanish league matches will be changed and there would be early starts to suit the ever increasing Indian football fans.
Inaugurating la liga's New Delhi office, their sixth base of operations overseas, in the presence of laliga ambassador Fernando Morientes, Spanish Davis Cup team led by Rafael Nadal and AIFF officials, Tebas said the kick-off timings will be changed to 4:30pm local time in Spain (8pm IST).
Indian fans, who normally get to watch the la liga matches late at night, will now be able to watch these games at prime time in late evening.
Tebas was excited about the opening of this new office and the impact it will have for la liga.
"It means a lot; this is one of the most important days in laliga's history. Being present in India is very important to us. We have been working hard towards this for a while and have even made changes to kick-off times with Indian fans in mind," Tebas said.
One of Spain's most revered strikers Fernando Morientes feels that the Gen-Next of the 'la Rojas' may find it difficult to replicate the success of their 'Golden Generation' as the national team is going through a difficult transition phase.
"Spanish national team is going through a change. The transition phase for any national team is a difficult one. In Europe, the gap between quality of various teams is decreasing. There are far too many competitive teams now," Morientes, who is here as a la liga ambassador.
