Former India pace bowler S Sreesanth on Thursday married Bhuwaneshwari Kumari Shekhawat, belonging to a Rajasthan royal family. The marriage ceremony was held as per Kerala tradition at the famous Sree Krishna temple at Guruvayur in Kerala’s Thrissur district during the Muhurat between 7.30 AM and 8.00 AM.
Sreesanth, Bhuwaneshwari and their families and relatives had reached Guruvayur on Wednesday night. Sreesanth tied the Mangalyasutra as per the Kerala tradition around Bhuwaneshwari’s neck and the couple dressed in traditional Kerala style garlanded each other to complete the ceremony. Only close relatives and friends had taken part in the marriage.
They left Guruvayur after offering prayers at the temple for the ancestral house of Sree’s father Santhakumaran Nair at Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district. A reception was held at a luxury hotel in Kochi on Thursday evening. Another reception is to be held at Kothamangalam on Saturday.
The bride had arrived in Kochi with a 100-storng team of relatives and friends from Rajasthan for the marriage on December 9. Pre-wedding ceremonies as per the tradition prevalent in Rajasthan were held in Kochi in the following days.
