Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella has revealed that he will step down after Sunday's World Cup final with Germany — regardless of whether la Abiceleste lift the trophy. Sabella's side sealed their place in a first final since 1990 with a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory over Holland on Wednesday.
Argentina fined $340k
FIFA has fined the Argentine Football Association $340,000 for failing to bring players to pre-match news conferences at the World Cup. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee said on Thursday that Argentina had breached the competition’s media and marketing regulations. The rules require teams to bring at least one player along with the coach to official news conferences held one day in advance of each match. Only coach Sabella has appeared for Argentina at the last four such news conferences.
