The defending champions and winners of three T20 World Cups, Australian eves will look to seal their place in the semi-final when they face a depleted Ireland side, which has not won even a single match in this tournament, here at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Saturday.

The Australian eves high on confidence after crushing Sri lanka on Thursday. Captain Meg lanning and Elyse Villani struck unbeaten half-centuries and handed the defending champions nine wicket win over the Island nation.

lanning (56 not out) and Villani (53 not out) scored 98 runs in 13.1 overs for the unbroken second wicket, after opener Alyssa Healy (12) was out in the fifth over, as Australia romped home by reaching 125 for one in 17.4 overs.

Ireland however have had a horrible run in the T20 World Cup. After losing to New Zealand in their opener, they lost to Sri lanka and then to South Africa. Isobel Joyce and her girls will look to leave the tournament on a high note and if they beat Australia here they can make the upset Australia’s chances of finishing in the top-2. Australia are placed at second position with four points from three games. New Zealand has already qulified and South Africa are at two points but they have two games in hand. It’s a do or die clash for Australia women.

For Australia, lanning, Blackwell, Cheatle and Perry are in form of their life and couldn’t have asked for a perfect timing than this WC.
