Pakistan’s chief selector Moin Khan returned home from Australia on Thursday and escaped an embarrassing situation at the airport where a small group of protesters had gathered to vent their anger with eggs and banners.

Recalled from Australia by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for visiting a Casino in Christchurch a night before the match against the West Indies, Moin slipped out of the Karachi international airport terminal building with a friend sans any baggage and drove away hurriedly.

The former Pakistan captain preferred not to speak to the media waiting outside the terminal building.Moin avoided a group of youngsters who had gathered outside the terminal building and raised slogans against him and also had brought eggs to pelt him.

He is likely to be asked to resign when he meets with the Chairman Shaharyar Khan this weekend.Although the PCB indicated publicly it would be taking no further action against Moin, but reliable sources said the former Test captain is expected to be told to step down.

“There is a strong lobby in the board which wants Shaharyar to ask Moin to resign himself after the World Cup,” one source said.“There is little chance that Moin would be allowed to continue.”
