Indian kettlebell athlete Ishani Sirohi secured two gold medals and a bronze at the recently concluded 2026 International Union of Kettlebell Lifting (IUKL) World Championship, held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from October 5 to 9.

The championship brought together over 300 athletes from 12 countries, including Russia, Australia, the United States, Uzbekistan and Poland. The event was held in association with the Kettlebell Sport India Association (KSIA), the Indian federation affiliated with IUKL.

Sirohi clinched her first gold medal in the women’s Military Snatch event, completing 206 repetitions with a 16 kg kettlebell. She added a second gold in the women’s team relay, where the Indian squad defeated Australia with a collective tally of 154 repetitions using double 16 kg kettlebells.

Sirohi also secured bronze in the women’s two arm jerk event, completing 54 repetitions with two 16 kg kettlebells. She finished behind competitors from Russia and Australia.

The three-medal performance marked another successful international outing for Sirohi, who had earlier won silver in the 30-minute Half Snatch Marathon and bronze in Military Snatch at the 2026 IKMF World Championships in Syracuse, New York. Apart from competing, Sirohi also served as a judge at the championship, contributing to the technical officiating of the international event.

The championship saw participation across multiple age groups and competitive categories, highlighting the growing international reach of kettlebell sport, a discipline that combines strength, endurance and technical precision.

Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj attended as chief guest on the opening day, while Paralympic medallist Deepa Malik was present on the second day. Sirohi’s performance adds to India’s achievements in international kettlebell competition, particularly in women’s strength sports, as Indian athletes continue to make their presence felt in disciplines beyond mainstream sporting events.
