Consolation win for Australia

PTI

Openers Aaron Finch and David Warner produced well-paced knocks as Australia finally won at the World Twenty20, an easy seven-wicket win over host Bangladesh.

Finch top-scored with 71 off 45 balls and Warner made 48 off 35 as Australia scored 158-3 in 17.3 overs in reply to the home side's 153-5.

They shared 98 runs to deny Bangladesh any hope, and ensure Australia finally won a game in the five-team Group 2 before heading home. Bangladesh, which had to qualify for the second round, didn't win a match in the group. India has topped the group, and Pakistan and the West Indies met late to decide the last semifinalist.

For Bangladesh, left-hander Shakib Al Hasan struck a fine 66 and captain Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 47 in a 112-run partnership for the third wicket.
