Bumrah plays down umpiring row

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday sought to play down the controversy surrounding poor umpiring after England captain Eoin Morgan raised the issue after the second T20 International, saying both sides will have to move on with the game as decisions do not always go in favour of only one team.

"We don't focus too much on decisions made by umpires. Sometimes it (umpiring decision) goes in our favour and sometimes in their favour. That happens in cricket, so we have to move on with the game," Bumrah told reporters on the eve of the third and final T20 International against England here on Wednesday.

He was replying to a query on Morgan's frustration over the quality of umpiring. The visitors had lost the second T20 International by five runs and Joe Root got a howler as umpire C Shamshuddin adjudged him lbw off Bumrah in the last over when the batsman had actually edged the ball.

Bumrah said the guidance from veteran pace colleague Ashish Nehra has been of great value.

"I have played a few matches with him. Also played a World T20 match. His guidance is always valuable because he has played a lot of international matches and in a nice position to share his experience with us," he said.

‘no issues with umpires’

England might have faced a few erroneous decisions in the second T20 against India but in-form batsman Joe Root on Tuesday said it would not be right to single out any one umpire for his mistakes.

"I never had any problems with umpires in any game. As a player you can commit mistakes and you can get things wrong, and as an umpire it is exactly the same. It will not be right to singal any man as an umpire," he told reporters on the eve of the third and final T20 match against India at the Chinnaswamy stadium here on Wednesday.

Root, however, said had it been a semifinal match of a big-ticket tournament then they would have been disappointed. "If it had been a semifinal and we could not make it to the final due to a decision we would feel bit disappointed as we have to live with it in the aftermath," said the 26-year old, who has so far scored 4594 runs in 53 Tests.

"But credit to Bumrah that he bowled so well in the death and defended seven runs in the last over," he added.
