The million-dollar Indian Badminton league kick started with a short and modest ceremony at the Siri Fort Sports Complex in the Capital on Wednesday. Though there was speculation around Shah Rukh khan making an appearance and Mika performing, neither turned up.
However, their absence was ably made up for by acrobats from Norway and a laser show which caught the sparse crowd's attention. The programme started with BAI president Akhilesh Das Gupta's speech, followed by six icon players taking the oath of fair play. The 30-minute ceremony ended in 30 minutes with a song by Neeti Mohan of Ishq wala love fame.
