Penaloza outshines Campaz

All eyes were on Colombia’s left-winger leandro Campaz prior to the match. But, it was the one who played in the opposite flank — Juan Penaloza — who proved to be the difference in the end. Throughout the match, with his dazzling runs, he never let Indian defence settle. Campaz did threaten Indian defence occasionally, but his teammate from the other flank proved to be a more lethal weapon on the night.

Changes did the trick

After the opening day disappointment, Indian coach luis Norton de Matos made four changes to the side. These changes helped India in keeping a proper structure and stay solid at the back and at the same time, they were able to threaten their opponent’s on the break.

Jeackson proves his worth

It was no surprise to see the 6-feet-2-inch defensive midfielder starting against Colombia. He shielded Indian defence quite well by sitting in front of the back-four and intercepted the balls well to keep Colombia at bay. He also surged forward on multiple occasions to help the attack and his passing was also spot on for the match. No surprises to see him get at the end of Sanjeev Stalin’s corner in the 82nd minute to score the equaliser for India.
